The blind flange is a solid flange cover without a central bore. It closes pipe ends, valve connections and reserved openings, and is also used for sectional pressure testing and isolation during maintenance. Thickened blinds carry the same pressure rating as weld neck flanges, making them a key safety component for piping isolation.
